Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old man for threatening and assaulting a homeowner in a residence on Pine Hill Road.

The incident took place on Friday, stated Sgt. Stewart Smith.

Jacob R. Tarwater, 17, of Chatham County, was taken into custody after he allegedly threatened the victim with a handgun, said TCSO investigators.

The teen also reportedly struck the victim during the incident, investigators stated.

Tarwater remains in the Troup County jail charged with aggravated assault, battery and obstructing officers.

4 people hurt in wreck

The Georgia State Patrol continues their investigation into a two car collision on Ga. 109 (Roanoke Road) near the Georgia / Alabama state line on Sunday.

The wreck happened about 12:15 p.m. and involved a 2007 Mazda Miata and a 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, according to a preliminary GSP report.

Four people were reportedly hurt in the accident, stated troopers with the Georgia State Patrol. Two of the victims were airlifted to area hospitals.

The condition of the victims was not known as of press time Monday evening.

Entering auto

Two men found their vehicles broken into and ransacked about 7:30 a.m. on Monday in the parking lot of the LaQuinta Inn at 111 Hoffman Drive.

The suspect(s) gained entry into each car by breaking out the passenger side rear window, stated a LaGrange police report.

One of the victims told officers his laptop was stolen out of car, the report read.

The damage for each vehicle was estimated around $200; the value of the laptop was reportedly $1,000.

Shoplifting

A former Walmart employee was captured on surveillance cameras stealing photographs from the store at 803 New Franklin Road on Saturday.

The woman could allegedly be seen concealing pictures that she printed off inside her purse, the report stated.

The former employee also reportedly stole some photographs she picked up from the one-hour photo center, according to LaGrange police.

The value of the pictures was more than $282, a store manager told LaGrange police officers.

The woman was allegedly caught shoplifting and terminated from the store in December, the report stated.

LPD officers issued warrants for her arrest.
