Callaway teams win at Temple

TEMPLE – It was a winning road trip for Callaway’s basketball teams.

In the girls’ game, Callaway (6-11 overall) improved to 6-3 in Region 5-AA with a 33-28 victory over Temple.

Haley Holliday and Chyna Cameron each had eight points for Callaway, and six different players scored.

Calaway was up 12-2 after the first quarter, and it was ahead 21-12 at the half.

The Lady Cavaliers were held to 12 points in the second half, but they only gave up 16 points in the final two quarters so they were able to hang on for the win.

In the boys’ game, Callaway (8-8 overall) handled Temple 65-48 to move to 5-4 in the region.

Since starting 0-3 in the region, the Cavaliers have won five of their past six games.

Tamarcus Smith led Callaway with 24 points, Braylon Sanders had 15 points, and Milton Turner scored 10 points.
