LaGRANGE – Troup High School Alumni plan to host The Sock Hops this Saturday at the high school.

The Sock Hops’ four-member group specializes in harmonies of crowd favorites from the 50s, 60s and 70s like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?” and “Blue Moon.” The group has opened for such big names as Three Dog Night, The Temptations and The Swingin’ Medallions.

This will be the group’s third time playing at the Troup High Alumni-sponsored event, proceeds from which are used to fund projects at the school, and the event’s organizers are hopeful for a good turnout for the fun concert.

“It just sort of brings back old times,” said Ellis Cadenhead, a Troup High School alumni who helped organize the event.

Tickets to the concert are $15 and can be purchased at Troup High School, LaGrange Toyota, United Rental and The Mill Store. The concert will take place in the Troup High Fine Arts Auditorium at 1920 Hamilton Road on Saturday at 7 p.m.
