Taxi driver robbed at gunpoint

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are searching for two men who robbed a Radio Op cab driver at gunpoint in the 500 block of Milam Street around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The driver told officers he picked up the two men at the Wood Glen apartment complex at 64 North Cary Street.

The suspects asked the driver to take them to Milam Street. When they arrived, one of the men allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the driver, according to LPD investigators.

The two men then fled the area.

Police are still investigating.

Gas station burglarized

A burglar broke into the Texaco gas station at 1511 Lafayette Parkway just after 1 a.m. on Thursday – and only got away with $27 in cash.

A deputy with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm activation at the store and discovered one of the glass doors was shattered, the report stated.

Video surveillance inside the business showed a man throw a rock through the glass, enter the store, steal the entire cash register and leave the scene, according to the police report.

The owner told police the register drawer contained $27.17. Nothing else was taken.

Man arrested for terroristic threats

One man was arrested for allegedly hitting another person and threatening them with a toy gun in the 500 block of Daniel Street just after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victim said the suspect, identified as Marcel Antoine Cotton, 42, of LaGrange, punched him in the face and threatened him, the report stated.

LaGrange police officers caught up with Cotton on Burr Street.

Officers did not find a weapon on Cotton, but discovered a toy gun wrapped with black tape near a house where they found the man, according to the report.

Cotton was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats – which is a felony.

Entering auto / theft

A couple claimed while they were inside the McDonalds at 1502 Lafaytte Parkway someone stole a purse and two cellphones out of their car.

The man and woman told LaGrange police they were inside the restaurant less than five minutes just before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When the couple walked back to their vehicle, they realized it was unlocked, the report stated.

The purse contained $200 in cash plus credit cards, according to the report.

The estimated value of the cellphones was $1,200.
