WOODBURY – The LaGrange Academy Warriors are set to play for third place in GISA Region 1-AA after falling to Furtah Prep 55-32 on Thursday at Flint River Academy.

LaGrange Academy will play Flint River, the host team, at 5:30 p.m. today.

The winner of the game will be the region’s number three seed for the state tournament, while the loser will be seeded fourth.

LaGrange Academy beat Furtah Prep in its home finale on Friday, but it was unable to find much offensive success in the rematch.

Lincoln Anderson, LaGrange Academy’s outstanding senior post player, had 14 points as Furtah Prep made slowing him down the focal point of its defensive effort.

“They did a good job of making some adjustments that kept him from getting to the rim,” LaGrange Academy coach Britt Gaylor said.

Despite Thursday’s loss, Gaylor is confident in his team going forward.

“We’ve been playing so well the last couple of weeks,” Gaylor said. “We had a little bit of a hiccup, but the way we’ve been playing, we can keep this thing going.”

In Thursday’s other semifinal game, it was Solid Rock beating Flint River to reach the championship game.
