Lady Tigers fall in state tourney

The season came to a close for the Troup Lady Tigers on Friday night in the opening round of the Class AAAA state tournament.

Facing West Hall, Troup fell 78-54.

Troup finished fourth in Region 5-AAAA to earn its state invitation, while West Hall won the Region 7-AAAA championship.

BASEBALL: The LaGrange Grangers moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 10-0 road win over Thomas County Central on Friday.

John Morgan got the starting assignment for LaGrange, and he threw four innings and gave up just one hit.

Ben Stogner finished off the shutout with a scoreless fifth inning, and the game ended early because of the run rule.

Matt Anderson and David Sweat each had two hits, and Coy Tedescucci, Jacob Vinson and Champ Willis each had one hit.

TENNIS: In a county matchup, it was LaGrange’s boys’ and girls’ teams beating Callaway on Thursday.

Both LaGrange teams won 5-0.
