LaGrange baseball team gets pair of wins

The LaGrange Grangers enjoyed a winning weekend on the road.

After beating Thomas County Central 10-0 on Friday, LaGrange edged Colquitt County 2-1 on Saturday to improve to 3-0.

In Saturday’s game, it was Matthew Anderson getting the start, and he worked four innings and gave up three hits with no walks.

Jacob Vinson pitched the next two innings and was sharp as well, giving up one hit and an unearned run.

Ben Anderson finished things off with a scoreless seventh inning.

At the plate, Trevor Norris had the go-ahead RBI single, bringing in Jacob Vinson, who reached with a double over the center fielder’s head.

Ben Anderson had two hits, Matthew Anderson had a hit, and freshman Charles Crawford got a start at third base and drew two walks.

In Friday’s game, it was John Morgan throwing four shutout innings, and Ben Stogner also tossed a scoreless inning.

Matthew Anderson and David Sweat each had two hits, and Coy Tedescucci, Vinson and Champ Willis had one hit apiece.

CALLAWAY: The Cavaliers (1-2) beat the Carver Tigers 12-0 on Friday for their first win of the season.

Josh Hanson was dominant on the mound, pitching four scoreless innings while giving up just one hit with eight strikeouts.

Slone Raper pitched the final two innings, and he didn’t allow a hit while striking out four.

Drake Wade had four hits, and Jabari Smith had a bases-loaded double that drove in three runs.
