LAGRANGE – There’ll be one more home game for the LaGrange Grangers.

LaGrange, which won a coin flip on Friday afternoon to determine home-court advantage for the quarterfinals of the Class AAAA state basketball tournament, will host Henry County on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The winner will advance to the final four on March 4 in Augusta to play either Upson-Lee or Thomson, and the championship game will be at Georgia Tech on March 10.

LaGrange and Henry County both won second-round games last week to reach the elite eight.

LaGrange (26-3) pulled away in the second half to beat Richmond Academy 85-73, while Henry County (23-5) blasted Lafayette 82-52.

Both teams are number one seeds, which is why a coin flip was necessary.

Henry County won the Region 4-AAAA championship, while LaGrange captured the Region 5-AAAA title.

Of LaGrange’s three losses this season, only one of them came at home, and that was against Upson-Lee in December.

LaGrange has reached the final eight for the second time in three years.

In 2015, LaGrange lost a coin flip and had to go to Allatoona for the quarterfinals, and it lost 47-45.

Last year, LaGrange lost at home to South Paulding in the second round of the state tournament.

This is the final go-around for a group of seniors who have accomplished a great deal, and they’re hoping to make it past the elite eight for the first time in their four seasons at LaGrange.

“I made it to the elite eight our 10th-grade year,” LaGrange senior guard LaPerion Perry said. “We came up short by two. We didn’t make it this far last year. We’re trying to go all the way this year, get the ring.”

Henry County has enjoyed a turnaround season after not reaching the state tournament last season.

LaGrange and Henry County both come into the game on a hot streak.

Since the loss to Upson-Lee, LaGrange has won 15 of its previous 16 games.

Henry County, meanwhile, has won 17 straight games, and it has won each of its two state games by at least 30 points.
