LAGRANGE – It doesn’t get any easier.

After surviving a home test against an outstanding Richmond Academy team in the second round of the state tournament last week, the LaGrange Grangers are prepared for another big-time challenge in the elite eight.

Henry County (23-5), which has won both of its state-tournament games by at least 30 points, will visit LaGrange (26-3) today with a berth in the final four of the Class AAAA state tournament on the line.

Henry County, the Region 4-AAAA champion, has yet to be tested in the state tournament.

After opening with a 78-34 victory over Howard, Henry County overwhelmed Lafayette 82-52 to reach this point.

Overall, Henry County has won 17 consecutive games, and it hasn’t lost since falling to Eastside in the middle of December.

Henry County is led by a pair of seniors who average 40 points between them.

Senior Javon Greene, a 6-foot-2 guard who is heading to George Mason University to play basketball, averages 21 points per game, and twice this season he has scored more than 40 points in a game.

He had 46 points in a 97-96 victory over Jackson on Dec. 19, and he poured in 45 points in a 92-89 win over Langston Hughes on Nov 25.

Damion Rosser, a 6-foot-5 post player who has signed with the University of New Orleans, scores 19 points per game, and he had a season-high 36 points against Monticello on Dec. 20.

In last week’s state-tournament win over Lafayette, Greene and Rosser scored 34 and 20 points, respectively.
