On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I wish to extend congratulations to LaGrange Mayor James C. “Jim” Thornton, an attorney with Thornton & Graham P.C., on his recent appointment by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve on the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

All Georgians will benefit from Mayor Thornton’s service on the council, which , among other responsibilities, serves as the statewide clearinghouse for criminal justice information and research, develops criminal justice legislative and executive policy proposals, administers federal criminal justice grant programs and advises the governor on issues impacting the criminal justice system.

Mayor Thornton’s acceptance of this post demonstrates his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this new position of statewide leadership.
