Dr. Mac Wayde Dorris

Dr. Mac Wayde Dorris, 85, of Greenbrier, died Tuesday February 28, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Goodlettsville. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday March 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Rosemont Baptist Church in LaGrange, GA with Rev. Max McCord officiating. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday March 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Dr. Dorris was born January 17, 1932 in Robertson County to the late Smith and Myrtle Hackney Dorris. He graduated from Greenbrier High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Dorris was a dentist and dental surgeon for 40 years, having practiced primarily in LaGrange, GA. He was a member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising horses, part time farming, going on dental mission trips, traveling, and remodeling houses and apartments. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Elizabeth Poole Dorris.

Dr. Dorris is survived by his children: Lynn Harris of Knoxville, Lisa Casares and husband Rick of Greenbrier, Marlina Belstadt of North Tonawanda, NY, brother: Jimmy Dorris of Greenbrier, grandchildren: Noah Casares, Alena Casares, Chris Harris, and Chad Harris, great grandchildren: CJ, Lane, Elizabeth, and Joseph Harris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Red Cross.
