Eugene “Gene” Thomas Joiner

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Thomas Joiner was born September 6, 1960 and died February 28, 2017 in LaGrange, Georgia after a short illness.  He is predeceased by his father, Douglas Madison Joiner.  He is survived by his wife, Debra Golden Joiner; his daughters Jenny Lee Hattaway (Brett) and Rachel Lindsey Joiner; his granddaughter Vivian Lee Hattaway; his mother, Virginia Scott Joiner; his brothers, Douglas Martin Joiner and John McKay Joiner (Jill); sister, Nancy Lynch (Bill); and his aunt, Martha Scott.  He is also survived by his nephews Cameron Joiner, Clay Whitehead, Carter Joiner and Jack Lynch.

 

Gene was a graduate of Manchester High School where he played football and ran track.  Gene was a walk-on for a year with the Georgia Bulldogs before moving on to his studies.  Gene graduated with a Criminal Justice degree from Columbus State University.

 

Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and spending time with his church family, Roper Heights Baptist Church, where he charmed with his sense of humor.  Though he will be sorely missed, Gene is at peace with his Lord.

 

A gathering of friends and family will held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Striblin officiating.
