LAGRANGE – Dozens of golfers from across the area took their best shot at Highland Country Club on Thursday.

The Granger Invitational, which was originally scheduled for Monday but was pushed back because of weather concerns, was held on Thursday on a cool but pleasant day.

Harris County captured the title with a team score of 322, and East Coweta’s Carson Whitton took low-medalist honors with a 72.

LaGrange was the top local team at 356, and Troup shot a 410.

For LaGrange, Preston Pelham led the way with an 83, and T.J. Ormsby shot an 89.

John Crawford (90) and Hudson Graham (94) rounded out the scoring for the Grangers, and Juston Edmonson (103) and Curren Alford (110) were the other two players.

“We’re just so inconsistent,” LaGrange coach Thomas Crocker said. “We played the same course last week and were 30 shots better than we were today. We’ve got to eliminate the inconsistencies. We are ahead of schedule where we were last year. We’re not where we need to be to meet our goals as a team. We’ve just got to keep working to improve. Our goal is to qualify for state. And we’re not where we need to be yet.”

The top local finisher was Troup’s Cameron Byers, who carded an 80.

Jack David Pleasants (104), James Figiel (112), Nick Schweizer (114) and Chase Hewett (120) were Troup’s other players.

On Tuesday, LaGrange’s girls’ team finished play in the Northside Invitational at Bull Creek Golf Course in Columbus.

LaGrange’s Blakely Arp finished fourth in the individual standings.

LaGrange’s other players were Sophie yers, Claire Alford and Ellie Hanson.
