LAGRANGE – The Troup Tigers took a break from their region schedule on Monday and fell to the visiting Auburn Tigers 15-7.

With two key region games coming up later this week, Troup head coach Craig Garner used seven different pitchers against Auburn, and they struggled to find the strike zone.

Troup’s pitchers walked 13 batters and hit three more, so combined with three errors, that was 19 free bases for Auburn.

Auburn was ahead 11-0 when Troup rallied.

Troup scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, and it added four more runs in the fifth to cut Auburn’s lead to 11-7.

That’s as close as Troup came, though, and Auburn capped the scoring with four runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Ryan Bliss, Troup’s junior shortstop, had three hits and a walk, and he had two RBIs.

Colby Williams added a two-run base hit, and Jarred Helton had an RBI single.

Cade Garner, Brantly Robinson, Ken Truitt, Jackson Knox, Joseph Calhoun, Colton Greathouse and Luke Swanson each pitched for Troup.

Knox, Greathouse and Swanson each pitched a scoreless inning.
