Charles Tommy Garner

Charles Tommy Garner, 76 of LaGrange, Ga. passed away Friday, March 17, 2017, at West Georgia Medical Center.  Charles was born in Centralhattchee, Ga. Sept.18, 1941.  He was the son of the late Rayford and Lucille Payne Garner of LaGrange, Ga. and the son-in-law of the late DeWitt and Bessie Jones Rainey of LaGrange, Ga.   Survivors include his wife of 49 years Ruth Rainey Garner. His children, Pecolla (Penni) Garner (Ryan) Connor.  Hughes Springs, Tex. son, Timothy C. Garner. LaGrange, Ga. Grandchildren, Jade Connor (Jessie) Lewis, Kassity Connor, Hughes Springs, Tex.  Chase Garner, Justin Garner and Kailie Garner LaGrange, Ga. Other survivors include his sister Gail Banks, Knoxville, Tenn. (formerly of LaGrange), brother and sister- in-law, Layton and Mavis Wright, LaGrange, Ga. Several nieces and nephews and many family and friends.  With a service record of seven years in the U. S. Navy in the V.N. War, serving on the ships USS Oklahoma City, USS Philip and the USS Columbus.  Returning to LaGrange in 1968, worked at City County Hospital (now West Ga. Medical Center) Charles retired from LaGrange Water Plant after 18 years of service, and retiring again from CarQuest. Charles was a member of Dunson Baptist Church for many years.  The Service to Honor and Celebrate the Life of Charles T. Garner will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, LaGrange, GA. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, LaGrange, GA.  For those desiring to make Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers, you may make a Donation in Memory of Charles T.
