Jean Mayfield

Mrs. Jean Mayfield, 83, of LaGrange passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon surrounded by her children at Twin Fountains Nursing Home. Mrs. Mayfield was born June 14, 1933 in Thomaston, Georgia.  She was the daughter of the late John T. & Mamie Robinson. Mrs. Mayfield was the former owner of Mayfield-Williams Furniture Company on Bull Street.  She was a Georgia licensed Real Estate Agent and a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.

Saturday afternoons were reserved for her love of Alabama football and Coach Nick Saban.  One of her favorite things to say was “ROLL TIDE.”  She enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado, playing bingo games and the music of Engelbert Humperdinck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. “Bob” Mayfield and her beloved four-legged son, Caesar.

Survivors include her children: Deborah & Jerry Bartley, Pine Mountain, GA., Teri Rockel, LaGrange, GA., Bubba & Cynthia Mayfield, LaGrange, GA., and

Chuck & Christie Mayfield, Blythwood, S.C.  Nine grandchildren, Kristy Cook & her fiancée Jarrett Jones, Jessica Mayfield, Danielle Rockel, Matt & Ashley Mayfield, Hyatt Mayfield, Riley Mayfield, Sara Mayfield, Brittany & Steven Tanner, Brooke & Andy Bolstad, four great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Hazel Roberts, LaGrange, GA., sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Shirley & Rent Williams, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and her extended family at Twin Fountains Nursing Home.

The family will receive friends at the Hunter Allen Myhand Funeral Home on  Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. Until 11:00 A.M. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor David A. Kegel officiating.  Flowers will be accepted, but those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Troup County Humane Society.
