LaGRANGE- Are you interested in becoming a school bus driver in Troup County?

If you have seen numerous of signs or banners hanging on Troup County buses throughout the area asking for bus drivers, then you might be in luck.

The signs around town asking for drivers don’t necessarily mean there is a dire need to hire many qualified drivers immediately.

Officials say Troup County Schools are constantly encouraging people to apply for transportation-related positions, as well as jobs in nutrition, too.

“It is not uncommon to have available positions in transportation or nutrition throughout the school year,” said Yolanda Stephens, Troup County Schools spokeswoman. “As part of our recruiting strategy, we run recruiting campaigns for bus drivers several times a year to encourage potential candidates to apply for the position. Community members will see buses with hiring signage placed strategically throughout the county.”

While school system is known for having job fairs for certified positions like teachers, in addition the Troup County School System also hosts job fairs for non-certified employees in categories like Clerical, School Nurse, Bus Monitor, Food Service, Maintenance, Custodial and Technology.

“We host job fairs centered around non-certified positions like bus drivers and nutrition employees,” added Stephens. “We are looking to hire the best and brightest in all positions throughout the Troup County School System.”
