LaGRANGE –   The Daily News’ weekly Neighbors series features one person from LaGrange and the surrounding area. This week we sought a financially sound perspective with Troup County deputy tax commissioner and Troup High School graduate Renee Hinkle.

LaGrange Daily News: How long have you worked for the tax commissioner’s office?

Hinkle: 11 years. It’ll be 11 years in May.

LDN: What is your favorite part about working in the tax office?

Hinkle: Just being able to help people, whether it’s a person on the phone or a customer out front or the people who work here. I enjoy doing that.

LDN: What is your favorite thing about living in Troup County?

Hinkle: I’ve lived here my whole life. To me it is just a good mix. It’s not too big of a town, but it’s big enough where there are still some things to do. We are really located in a good place. Of course, all my family is here, all my friends are here, so that’s good.

LDN: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Hinkle: My husband and I both like to fish, so we do a little bit of that. … We just go to West Point Lake, and we do bass fishing, carp, crappie, the whole nine yards.

LDN: What is the most beautiful spot in Troup County?

Hinkle: I really like out around the dam. Some of those areas around down there are really pretty – like Long Cane access.

LDN: What kind of new business would you like to see come to LaGrange?

Hinkle: Some new kind of shopping would be great. Some different restaurants would be good. Of course, Hobby Lobby. That is my main thing, Hobby Lobby. I’ll be so excited to see that, or even a Michaels would be great. … Anything different is great.
