Misael Mora Martinez was arrested on March 21 when he was stopped by law enforcement while traveling through Meriwether County.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office received information Martinez would be traveling to Meriwether County with a substantial quantity of methamphetamine.

The GBI, along with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office and the Troup County Sheriff’s Office observed Martinez drive a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche into Meriwether County and park at a car wash, investigators stated.

Agents approached Martinez and searched his car, according to a news release.

Law enforcement officers reportedly discovered 18 ounces of suspected methamphetamine inside the SUV, the news release stated.

Martinez was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

No bond has been set.

The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office was also assisted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Hamilton, Georgia during the investigation.

Alphonso Norman was caught in possession of 18 ounces of cocaine by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office in July 2015.

Norman was sentenced by presiding Judge Travis Sakrison to 30 years behind bars to serve 18 years. He must also pay a $50,000 fine.

Obstruction

One woman had more charges tacked on to her arrest record when she refused to cooperate with LaGrange police.

Officers tried to arrest the woman on a probation violation at a home in the 300 block of Athens Street.

The woman allegedly walked away from police, entered the home and struggled against officers when they attempted to handcuff her, the report stated.

As officers walked the woman to a waiting LPD patrol car, she reportedly refused to get inside the vehicle.

Police pulled her into the backseat where she allegedly tried to get out of restraints and spit at the officer, according to the report. A spit mask was placed over her head. The woman allegedly attempted to remove that too.

Officers utilized multi-purpose restraints and transported the woman to the Troup County Jail without further incident, according to the report.

The woman was cited with obstruction / resisting arrest.
