Public Safety Reports

LaGrange police are searching for a man who reportedly punched his former girlfriend in the face outside a home in the 200 block of Burr Street.

The victim, who is a juvenile, told officers the man came to the house around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and demanded to see the couple’s three-month-old infant.

At some point, the man became angry at the victim for “ignoring him,” the report stated. The man then allegedly punched the girl in the face near her right eye.

He fled the scene when the victim called 911, according to the report.

The infant was not hurt during the altercation.

LPD officers issued an arrest warrant for the man and charged him with battery under the Family Violence Act.

Fraudulent check

A man attempted to cash a fraudulent check valued more than $1,000 at the Calumet Bank at 101 Calumet Road.

The man presented an employee with the “company’s” bank account number, a check for $1,354.87 and an I.D. card, the police report said.

The teller became suspicious because a similar incident happened earlier in the day at a Calumet Bank branch in Columbus, according to the report.

As employees were calling 911, the man suddenly fled the bank.

LaGrange police are investigating.
