Mr. John Tillman Smith, 79, of LaGrange, GA passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.

Mr. Smith was born July 25, 1937 in Heard County, GA, son of the late Arthur Jackson Smith and Annie Mae Pittman Smith.  He was Baptist by faith and was employed with Milliken as a truck driver until his retirement, and later worked for Vaughn Cartage.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion.  Mr. Smith enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Smith; son, Paul Booker; seven siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Tim Booker, Arthur Smith, and Rick Smith; grandchildren, Daniel Browning, Shelly Booker, Chrissy Booker, Sammy Booker, Toney Booker, Erica Tracy, Savannah Smith, and Jacob Smith; numerous great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, April 7, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerry Scarborough and Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.
