LOGANVILLE – They bounced back in fine fashion.

After falling to Hillgrove 11-0 on Friday in Powder Springs, the LaGrange Grangers were back on the road to play Loganville on Saturday.

The Grangers built a 5-1 lead after scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning, and they held on to finish their busy week with a 2-2 record.

On Tuesday, LaGrange played two games in Florida, and it beat Somerset (Ky.) before losing to Pace (Fla.) 3-2 in nine innings.

LaGrange (17-9) will continue its pursuit of a Region 5-AAAA championship on Tuesday with a road game against the rival Troup Tigers.

LaGrange is in first place in the region with a 6-1 record, but Troup is close behind at 6-2, and Cartersville is 5-2.

In Saturday’s game, it was tied 1-1 through two innings when LaGrange broke through for four runs in the top of the fourth to build the 5-1 lead.

Loganville answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to get within two, and LaGrange scored a single run in the top of the fifth to go up 6-3.

Loganville scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it was held scoreless the rest of the way.

Coy Tedescucci entered the game in the bottom of the fifth and did a nice job of getting  out of a jam to keep his team on top, and Jacob Vinson threw two scoreless innings to finish it.

John Morgan started and pitched four innings to get the win.

Willis Kemp was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for LaGrange, and Trevor John Norris was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

David Sweat had a hit and an RBI, Hunter Plant had a double, and Champ Willis and Cole Freeman each had hits.
