LaGRANGE- Area travelers who need to update their passport – or just get one – will not have to go very far to obtain the important document.

The LaGrange Post Office located at 950 Lafayette Parkway provides passports – and has even added an extra day for people to apply for them.

Post Office employees held a Passport Fair on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There was a small turn out, so the group plans to do it again on Saturday, May 13th.

“We like to hold these events so people know we do passports here,” stated Mary Brewer, supervisor of the LaGrange Post Office. “Some offices provide them (passports), some offices do not. Plus, most people work during the week, so it’s easier for them to get it (passport) done on a Saturday.”

The LaGrange Post Office processes passport applications Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

During the Passport Fairs on Saturday, people will need to make an appointment with the post office.

Folks will need to bring a photo I.D., such as a valid driver’s license, proof of identity, like a birth certificate and a completed passport application. Those can be printed out at www.travel.state.gov.

LaGrange Post Office employees have the equipment to take the photo used on the travel documents.
