HOGANSVILLE – The Hogansville Hummingbird Festival is once again looking for artists to submit their paintings as candidates for the artwork that will grace the festival poster and other promotional materials for this year’s festival.

It’s the 19th year the festival has had an artists’ call and featured an artist’s work.

“We had a motorcycle one year (in the painting). One year we had the water tower,” said Mary Stewart, one of the festival’s main organizers.

“It just has to have a hummingbird on it,” she said. “It needs to be fun and festival-ish. It needs to be a celebration.”

The posters have become highly collectible and are cherished by festival fans throughout the Southeast. The 2016 poster was designed by artist Laura Gfelner. The design will become the visual theme for the Hummingbird Festival throughout the year. The original artwork will become the property of the Festival and will hang in City Hall with all past years’ art submissions.
