Mavis Moore Garrett

Mrs. Mavis Moore Garrett, 95, of Hogansville, passed away Friday, Apr. 21, 2017, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Garrett was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Heard County, daughter of the late Johnnie and Pearl Wilson Moore. A resident of Hogansville most of her life, she was manager of Allen’s 5 & 10 for many years and retired as a bookkeeper from Clark-Holder Clinic. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hogansville

She is survived by her sister, Faye Moore Trussell of Fairburn; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Garrett; and her sisters and brothers, Bobbie Arrington, Lucile Wilson, Pierce Moore and Frank Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Frank Sledge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Hogansville or to a favorite charity.
