Mr. Reese C. (Buck) Bowen, Jr.

Mr. Reese C. (Buck) Bowen, Jr., 87, of Hogansville, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at The Oaks of Carrollton.

A resident of Troup county most of his life, Mr. Bowen was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He spent his life in the textile industry, starting with Callaway Mills and working with Milliken and Company and Kleen-Tex Industries before establishing his own firm, Botex Sales, Inc. in Hogansville. He was also instrumental in setting up a textile plant in China. Mr. Bowen was a member of Wehadkee Baptist Church and was a former member of the Hogansville City Council. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved his family dearly, and is remembered as a good person, generous employer, and true friend.

Survivors include his daughter, Jenny Dale Smith and her husband Walter of Villa Rica; son, Jeffrey Bowen of Hogansville; daughter in-law, Donna Bowen of LaGrange; sister, Betty Adams of Glenn, brothers and sisters in-law, Billy and Martha Bowen, Gregory and Delores Bowen, all of LaGrange, Jerome and Margie Bowen of Roanoke, AL; grandchildren, Jessica Bowen, Justin Bowen, Michael Bowen, Ryan Bowen, and Erin Smith; and six great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Echols Bowen and his son, Stanley Bowen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Nick Pilgrim will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Friday night.
