LaGRANGE – LaGrange’s Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority plans to host its second annual Bow Ties and Pearls event on Saturday.

This year’s theme is a “Soulful night under the stars,” and the event is set to feature musical talent such as Nate Myers and Friends’ blend of jazz and neo-soul.

The PR Experience hosted by Magic 101.3 DJ Chip and Felecia is also set to perform. The group has a combined 50 years of musical experience playing a blend of jazz, funk and neo-soul.

“We get a tremendous amount of requests for jazz,” said Sweetland Director Becca Eisland, who expressed her excitement that Delta Sigma Theta will be holding their jazz infused event at Sweetland again this year. “… I think it will be a great night of music.”

Last year the event attracted a crowd of over 500, and venue organizers are hopeful for double that number on Saturday.

The proceeds from the event are set to go to the service work performed by the sorority, and guests are asked to bring a pair of new children’s shoes to the event for “The Soul of My Footprint” foundation which provides shoes to children in Uganda.

Food trucks are expected to be on site for the event and guests will be allowed to bring in small coolers for picnics.

Tickets range from $37.50 for VIP seating to $25 for general admission and can be purchased at sweetland.events
