Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Ms. Evie, age 97, went home to be with the Lord and her family at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Iberia Medical Center, while she was surrounded by her loving family.

She was a lifelong member of Westside Baptist Church. She loved the Word of God and loved going to church, singing, and the choir. She also loved her flowers and her plants but her heart was her grandson Travis. In her younger days, she spent her time volunteering at Belle Teche Nursing Home, where she was greatly appreciated. She enjoyed doing their hair and assisting them in any way she could. She was known for her lemon meringue pie!

Her survivors include her loving son Edwin “Eddie” Barras and his wife Louise of Loreauville, her grandson Travis P. Barras also of Loreauville, a sister Laura Anderson of LaGrange, GA., a sister-in-law June Heard also of LaGrange, GA. and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Sidney J. Barras and her parents Warner Jackson and Fannie Francis Heard, and three brothers and six sisters.

While going through her things, the family stumbled upon all the sentimental cards that were sent to her throughout her life. This brought them great comfort and appreciation.  Thank you!

Special thanks to Dr. Ditch and Dr. Gullota for a lifetime of care.

Extra special thanks to Joyce and Harold Jones, her lifetime neighbors. To us they are family!

David Funeral Home 1101, Trotter St .(337) 369-6336  is handling the arrangements.
