LaGRANGE- Family and friends gathered at Hills and Dales Estate Saturday afternoon in the Pecan Grove for their 10th Annual Picnic to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities.

This is the 10th straight year that Hills and Dales Estate has held their picnic and usually takes place on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

“We had a croquet, badminton, bocce ball, ladder ball toss, washer toss, cakewalk, face painting, pony rides, kids could take home pot marigolds, a hula hoop contest and a picnic contest where the best picnics won prizes,” said Carleton Wood, the Executive Director of Hills and Dales Estate. “People could also tour the gardens and greenhouse as well.”

People who attended also got to participate in flower potting and witness the musical band Zak Knight and Al Zachry perform live.

There was a cakewalk throughout the picnic where Hills and Dales Estate gave away 20 homemade cakes as well that added more intrigue to the event.

Wood said about 250 people attended the picnic but there likely would have been more, due to the rain earlier in the morning that might have prevented families from coming. Wood said he expects a much bigger turnout next year when they host the picnic for the 11th straight year.

“It was good family-fun day,” said Wood.
