A routine traffic stop ended in a small foot pursuit and arrest for a convicted felon allegedly attempting to elude the LaGrange police.

Officers noticed the driver’s brake light was out and followed him to a house in the 300 block of Brown Street around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The driver did not believe police and asked one of the officers to get into the front seat and hit the brake pedal, the report read.

When the officer did, he smelled an odor of suspected marijuana, according to the report.

As police asked the man for his driver’s license, the suspect suddenly took off on foot, the report read.

Officers chased the man and caught up with him behind a house on Watson Street, stated the police report. One officer observed the suspect, identified as Kendronne Tiggs, throw an item on the ground before being handcuffed.

Police found the object which appeared to be a clear baggie containing cocaine, the report said.

Officers searched the SUV Tiggs was driving and found a Lorcin .380 handgun in the driver’s side door, a Jiminez 9 mm handgun on the passenger side floorboard and a set of digital scales, the report stated.

Police also discovered a plastic bag of suspected marijuana in one of Tiggs’ jean pockets.

Tiggs was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of drug related objects, obstruction, driving on a suspended license and brake light violations.
