Panthers take another step toward title

The LaGrange College baseball  team continues to dismantle the opposition.

LaGrange College improved to 40-4 with Friday’s 12-5 victory over Rowan  in the NCAA Division III South regional.

LaGrange College improved to 2-0 in the regional, and it will play Roanoke today at 11 a.m in Danville, Va.

If the Panthers win that game, they will play for the regional championship on Sunday with a berth in the Division III World Series on the line.

In Friday’s game, the Panthers banged out 17 hits on the way to the blowout victory.

Chad Pigg had four hits and four RBIs, and Casey Bell had two hits with a double and two RBIs.

James Poropatic had three hits and two RBIs, and Blake Butcher had had three hits and one RBI.

Joe Pradat and Blane Swift each had a hit and an RBI, and Tavin Thompson had a triple and two runs scored.

Jackson Patrick had a hit and three runs scored.

Andrew Weekley started and pitched eight innings to get the win, and Colin Barrett finished things off with a scoreless ninth inning.
