One shot in West Point Sunday afternoon

WEST POINT – Investigators with the West Point Police Department are searching for a suspect who shot a man in the 1200 block of East 12th Street. The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday, officials said.

The victim was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment, said West Point police. His condition was not known as of press time on Tuesday.

The shooting on Sunday was the second incident in less than two weeks on the same street.

Sherika Trammell was gunned down in the 1100 block of East 12th Street on May 17. The woman was later pronounced dead at George H. Lanier hospital in Valley, Alabama.

Three people were arrested in connection with Trammell’s murder, investigators said. One suspect, Desron Young, is still at large.

Investigators with the West Point Police Department have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected.
