Man carjacked in front of home

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are searching for two gunmen who allegedly robbed a man and stole his SUV in front of the victim’s home in the 900 block of Ringer Street.

The homeowner told investigators he pulled up to his house around 4 a.m. on Friday.

As he got out of his 2001, pewter, Chevrolet Tahoe, two unidentified men approached him. Both were holding guns, investigators said.

The suspects demanded the man’s wallet and key’s to his SUV, the report read.

They then fled the scene in the victim’s Tahoe.

Anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the stolen SUV is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at (706) 883-2603 or Crime Stoppers at (706) 812-1000.

 

Burglaries

A woman told LaGrange Police someone broke into her home in the 1200 block of Austin Street and stole several items.

Among the items taken was a 50-inch Sony Flat screen TV, 42-inch JVC Flat screen TV, two pair of tennis shoes and a Michael Kors watch, the report said.

The value of the merchandise was estimated around $1,170.

Officers noted the suspect(s) attempted to kick in the front door , but gained entry into the home by breaking a window.

In another burglary, a woman reported someone broke into her home in the 1600 block of Jackson Street and stole her TV and computer.

The woman told LaGrange police officers she noticed her rear sliding glass door was opened, the report said.

The value of the stolen items was estimated at $800.

 

Forgery

One man was arrested for attempting to pass a fraudulent check at the Charter Bank at 555 South Davis Road on Wednesday.

A bank employee recognized the check was fake and called 911 while the suspect was still in the building, the report said.

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department arrested the man after verifying the document was not real, according to the report.

The check was worth more than $972.
