Woman robbed at gunpoint, Sunday, thieves steal car

Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are searching for two men who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint while she sat in her car in the parking lot of the Lee’s Crossing apartment complex at 119 Old Airport Road.

The incident happened just before 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The victim told investigators two unidentified men approached her with guns in their hands.

The suspects allegedly demanded the woman hand over her wallet, cellphone and keys to her car, investigators said. They then told her to get out of the vehicle.

The men jumped in the victim’s car and left the area, according to investigators.

The vehicle was quickly located in the Jackson Height’s housing area on Cherry Drive in Lanett, Alabama, investigators said.

Man crashes into fence

One man was hurt when he drove in reverse down the 100 block of Brenda Drive, veered off the road and smashed into a rock wall / fence around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A witness told LaGrange police officers the driver was speeding up and down the road just before the accident.

At one point, the driver allegedly put the car in reverse, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the privacy fence, the report stated.

The driver allegedly admitted to officers he drank three beers and had three shots earlier in the day, according to the report.

The man was taken to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center for minor injuries. Medical personnel also drew blood from the driver to be tested for the level of intoxication, the report read.

Officers charged the driver with DUI less safe and driving on a revoked license.

Woman punched in the face

A woman was hurt when a man allegedly assaulted her outside an apartment in the 800 block of Borton Street on Saturday.

The woman told officers she went to visit a friend and knocked on the front door.

Her friend’s boyfriend allegedly opened the door and the two got into a verbal argument, the report said.

The altercation escalated and the man reportedly punched the woman multiple times in the face, according to the report. The man then left the scene.

Officers noticed the victim had multiple bruises on her face and was bleeding from her lip.

Police are investigating.

LPD assist homeless man

LaGrange police officers helped a man return home after observing him walking along Lafayette Parkway near Interstate 85 Friday afternoon.

The man told police he was recently released from the Second Seasons behavioral health center in LaGrange and was trying to get home to Atlanta but did not have enough money for a bus ticket. In addition, the next bus to Atlanta did not leave until Saturday morning, according to the report.

LaGrange Police used money from a special bank account to pay for a hotel room and bus ticket for the man, the report said.

Officers also gave the man a ride to the Greyhound bus station the next day, the report stated.
