If the rain holds off, it’ll be another busy — and warm — weekend in LaGrange.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the LaGrange Police Department’s Paw Day, which will allow people in the community a chance to meet the local K9 teams. The first 500 guests will receive a free hot dog, a bag of chips and a drink, and the first 250 kids will receive a Paw Day gift bag. Prizes will also be given away to adults.

The event is free and will last from 10 a.m. to noon at Sweetland Amphitheatre.

Lion King final perfomance

The Lafayette Theatre Company and Young Singers of West Georgia will hold its final two performances of Disney’s Lion King, Jr. at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The performances are open to the public and cost $7 per person. The shows are the final part of a two-week musical theatre performance camp for students in third-eighth grade.

West Point Lake Coalition holding Poker Run

West Point Lake Coalition, together with West Point Lake Life, will host the first annual poker run for boats at 11 a.m.

Multiple hands are allowed per boat, but only one hand is allowed per person. Extra cards are $5, with a max of three cards per hand. You must be 18 or older to play. There will also be a giant water slide and live music. The event will benefit the Solar Buoy Light program on West Point Lake. Registration is at Pyne Road Park at 9:30 a.m. There will be four lake stops and check points. The best overall hand is worth $1,000 and it costs $20 per hand.

Miracle League of LaGrange Benefit Ride

The Miracle League of LaGrange will hold a benefit ride starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday at 299 Fort Drive in LaGrange. Proceeds for the event will go toward building the miracle league field, which will allow children and adults with mental and physical disabilities to experience playing baseball. The field would be rubberized and would be a safer environment.  Registration will start at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 per Jeep or motorcycle, but there will also be a silent auction and raffles.
