MANCHESTER – The Troup American all-stars got their tournament stay started in impressive fashion.

Facing Schley in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball 9-10-year-old district tournament on Friday in Manchester, Troup National captured a 10-7 victory to move into the winner’s bracket.

Troup National wasn’t as fortunate, falling to Thomaston 15-3.

Both teams remain alive in the double-elimination tournament, which will go through Tuesday.

Troup American will be back on the field today against Taylor County, with first pitch set for 10 a.m.

Taylor County beat Marion County in its first-round game.

Whatever happens today, Troup American will play again on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Troup National is off today, and it will face an elimination game on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The top two finishers will advance to the state tournament, and the state winner moves on to the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series.
