Dropbox to get pills off streets

The LaGrange Police Department installed a prescription pill dropbox last week near the front entrance of the police station.

The point in the box is to give people a safe way to dispose of prescription pills that they no longer need. Many of us have medicine cabinets full of old prescriptions that we probably haven’t needed in months, if not years.

Those pills will likely sit there for eternity for no reason at all, and many of them have expiration dates anyways. Now might be the perfect time to go through them.

The police department’s new dropbox is a great place to take all of those old pills, which in turn gets them out of the cabinet and most importantly, away from the wrong hands. A lot of times a teenager’s first experience with drugs comes from his or her own home.

There are no questions involved with dropping off pills at the box. The department believes that having the pills off the streets is more important than knowing where they came from.

The West Point Police Department and Troup County Sheriff’s Department also have similar boxes, so there are plenty of options for Troup County residents needing to dispose of prescription pills.
