LAGRANGE – Troup National will look to finish off a dominant stay in the district tournament with a championship-clinching victory over Taylor County today.

Troup National has won all three of its games in the Dixie Youth Baseball 11-12-year-old district tournament at the Harris Baseball Complex to reach the championship game.

Troup National’s opponent in today’s title game will be Taylor County, which beat Manchester on Tuesday to advance in the double-elimination tournament.

If Troup National wins today, it will be the champion and the tournament will be over.

If Taylor County pulls out the win today, a winner-take-all game would be played on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Troup National hasn’t faced much opposition so far.

On Friday, Troup National opened its tournament stay with a 9-1 victory over Taylor County, with Colton Esposito and Trevor Booton getting things started with back-to-back home runs in the first inning.

After getting rained out on Saturday, Troup National was back on the field on Sunday afternoon, and it overwhelmed Thomaston 18-3.

Once again, Esposito and Booton hit back-to-back home runs as Troup National rolled to the three-inning win.

On Monday, Troup National got off to a quick start and beat Manchester 9-3 to earn a spot in the title game.

Booton hit a home run for the third straight game as part of a six-run second inning.
