Two arrested for marijuana possession

On Thursday afternoon, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Louis Potts and his girlfriend, Gato Dallas for manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.

Drug investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and agents of the governor’s task force/drug suppression unit, responded to 49 Emmaus Church Road in Hogansville. Potts, 60, and Dallas, 61, were transported to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office without incident, according to a press release.

Man arrested after leaving scene of accident

Officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision hit and run Thursday afternoon at 12:52 p.m.  at the intersection of Orchard Hill Road and Pegasus Parkway.

Only one of the two drivers were still at the scene when officers arrived, according to the police report. The driver waiting said he was turning northeast onto Pegasus Parkway from Orchard Hill Road when his vehicle was struck on the left rear by the other driver. The officers were contacted by Troup County 911 during the investigation and given the location of the other vehicle and driver.

The driver admitted he had been in a collision, according to the report, and told officers that he proceeded through a green light and was struck by the other vehicle. According to the report, officers were unable to determine the at fault driver.The second driver did not have a driver’s license and was placed under arrest. He was charged with driving unlicensed and leaving the scene of an accident.

Chevy Suburban stolen

The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a stolen 2004 Chevy Suburban that was reported stolen Thursday afternoon from a location on Habersham Drive.

The woman said she went outside to get into her vehicle, but it was gone. At first, she thought her child’s father might have taken the vehicle, but he told her he did not take it and to immediately call the police. The value of the vehicle is estimated to be around $40,000.
