Sound Doctrine Deliverance Ministries International in LaGrange is hosting its General Conference from Wednesday, July 5 through Saturday. According to youth pastor Elijah Parham, churches have come from all over the United States to worship with his church.

“This is really a life changing event,” Parham said.

The convention is free and open to the public. While there are roles for everyone involved, Parham said the conference is mainly geared toward young people.

“We have something here for everybody, but we have a lot of youth at this conference. With our church, we have about 60 or 70 youth, plus the ones from the other churches,” Parham said.

During the conference, Parham said attendees will be able to attend several worship services and workshops throughout the week. He said the conference will conclude with a performance of the stage play “Family Secrets.”

“It’s about this woman who married this man who is doing bad things to her children,” Parham said. “She loves him so much that she can’t see the bad in him.”

So far, 18-year-old Kayla White said she is enjoying the conference and happy to see some of the people she’s met in previous years.

“I’m just glad to be here. We were welcomed here with love. Meeting up with all of my church family [from around the U.S.] was great,” White said. “I’m expecting to have a good time and leave as a different person. I think everyone is going to have a good time in the Lord.”
