The LaGrange Elks Lodge is hosting its third annual Elks Care – Elks Share Adoption Event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. According to secretary Penny Hart, the event will be held at the Elks Lodge headquarters at 905 South Davis Road.

Through the event, Hart said the Elks Lodge will give a special opportunity to families who couldn’t typically afford to adopt a dog. He also said the Elks Lodge will help families who meet certain adoption requirements by helping them cover the costs of adoption and spaying or neutering.

“The humane society always has plenty of animals. We don’t want to see any of them put down,” Hart said. “I’m hoping this will make people to happy and spread goodwill.”

Hart said the adoption event will be a joint effort between the LaGrange Elks Lodge and the LaGrange – Troup County Humane Society, and was made possible through a grant from the Elks Main Lodge.

In the future, Hart said the Elks Lodge hopes to host the event more often.

“We want to host it as an ongoing event up to two times a year,” Hart said.

The event will feature vendors that are selling pet supplies. Adopting families will also have the option to receive a free digital photograph with their new dog, courtesy of At a Glance Photography.

According to a Facebook post from the LaGrange – Troup County Humane Society, Elks Care – Elks Share is “a family friendly event that you don’t want to miss.”
