Gun, badge stolen from truck parked at hotel

A firearms instructor had a gun and badge stolen out of his truck sometime between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, according to a report filed with the LaGrange Police Department.

The victim is a firearms instructor with the Department of Community Supervision and said he was in LaGrange to conduct training at the Troup County Sheriff’s Department firing range. He was staying at The Hampton Inn located on 100 Willis Circle.

Sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 a.m. an unknown person knocked the window out of his Ford F-150. The vehicle was locked and parked in the parking lot.

A Glock 19, generation four, 9 mm handgun was taken out of the truck, as was a law enforcement badge.

The gun is valued at $500 and the badge is valued at $75. The gun’s serial number was provided to law enforcement.

An investigation into the alleged theft continues.
