Mrs. Grace M. Bates,  83, of the Louise Community passed away Wednesday evening at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice. Mrs. Bates was born June 23, 1934, in Roanoke, Alabama the daughter of the late Walter & Viola Simmons Simpson. She was a former employee of Handley Mill in Roanoke and General Fibers in LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Horace Bates and a Son, Darrell Cummings

Survivors include her children: Mike & Karen Cummings, Roanoke, Alabama. Willie Steve & Gail Cummings, Alexander City, AL. Brenda Gail Joiner, LaGrange, GA.

Grandchildren: Donnie Price, Amy Lynn White &Timothy Cindrick,,  James, Joiner, Melinda(Rusty)Brown, Heather Chappell, Michael (Donna) Cummings, Jr. Steven Wayne (Pam) Cummings, Christopher G Cummings, Lee Cummings, Tracy Cummings, Tony Cummings, Christy Cummings, a large number of Great Granchildren, Sister: Claudine Crockett, Columbus, Ga. Brother: Ray Simpson,  Roanoke, AL and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Mrs. Grace M. Bates were held at 6:00 P.M. Friday from the chapel of the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with The Rev. Brian Geter officiating.
