Pigskin Preview contest ends, cover of magazine determined

The first annual Pigskin Preview cover contest ended up not being much of a contest at all.

Callaway band member James Wood, Troup High football player Montez Crowe and LaGrange High cheerleader Maurie White won the contest with 768 total votes and will grace the cover of the first annual Pigskin Preview magazine. .

There were a total of 1,788 votes cast in the contest, which took place on the LaGrange Daily News Facebook page.  The contest lasted five days from Monday-Friday, and included all four Troup County high schools that have a football program.

Second place went to Troup High cheerleader Dazia Potts, Callaway High football player Lichon Terrell and LaGrange High band member Liam McDonald, who finished with 583 votes. The cover featuring LaFayette Christian School’s Mitch Crandall, Landon Whitley, Jacob Lueken and cheerleader Sydnie Guizar finished third with 296 votes.

Fourth was the cover featuring Callaway High cheerleader Zahdai Mosley, LaGrange High football player Dezhaun Artis and Troup High band member Nicholas Ryan with 141 votes. Pigskin Preview is the LaGrange Daily News’ high school football preview magazine. The magazine will publish Aug. 15 and will include previews of all area teams.
