For anyone who would like to blow off some steam after those first days of school, there will be plenty of fun to be had in town this weekend.

On Saturday, blues rock sensation Donna Hopkins will take the stage at Pure Life Studios. Hopkins has opened for music legends like Stevie Wonder, Emily Saliers of The Indigo Girls and more, and her energetic, Southern style is sure to entertain.

“I am always excited to feature female singer/songwriters,” Pure Life Owner Maggie McDonald said.  “They are far and few between.”

The studio regularly features a wide variety of artists of both local interest and national renown, and this show is expected to be yet another phenomenal experience within LaGrange’s music scene.

“Donna Hopkins came highly recommended,” McDonald said. “I’d like to add we always have a gathering out back before each show — time for folks to meet, socialize and eat — from 6:30 to 7:30 before each show.”

Admission is $15, and this concert will allow for outside food. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 206 Clark St.

Color run

Troup County Comprehensive High School will hold its second annual color run on Saturday morning on streets surrounding the school and a nearby nature trail.

The event will raise funds for the TCCHS Cross Country Team, and will feature an untimed 3.1 mile fun run/walk. Runners will be splashed with color in color splash zones throughout the course.

Those wishing to participate who have not already registered may still do so on Eventbrite.com, but they may not receive a race bib, color packet or t-shirt. Anyone who does not receive a t-shirt should wear something white that they want to get color on during the run.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the race will begin at 8 a.m. Donations to the school from non-runners are also welcome.

Markets

Saturday will start bright and early with the Market on Main, which takes place behind the cinema on the corner of Main St. and E. Depot St. from 8 to 10 a.m. The event will feature fresh, locally grown produce and locally made products.

Sim’s Farm will also host a farm day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring local meat, produce, crafts and more at 10 Bailey Rd.

Market Day Under the Lights will also take place on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. at The Depot in downtown Hogansville. The monthly gathering takes place on the second Saturday of every month and features artisans, craftsmen and plenty of food.
