Three counterfeit bills were allegedly discovered in two different locations in LaGrange on Thursday.

The first one allegedly occurred when a woman was given a $20 counterfeit bill at the Summit on Hamilton Road around 11:28 a.m.

An employee said that an unknown female walked into the location and wanted to pay $40 for gas. The woman said that the female handed her two $20 bills.

The employee said that she checked the bills as usual with a marking pen, and one of the two bills came back with a positive marking. The woman said that she told the female that she could not use this bill because it was coming back fake. The woman told police that the female gave her another $20, which had a negative result. The woman said that after the female paid, she left the location.

The second one allegedly occurred when the Walmart manager of the New Franklin Road location allegedly found two counterfeit $100 bills around 10:50 p.m. The store manager told police that when employees did the cash pulls from the registers at approximately 10:50 p.m. and put the money into the cash recycle machine, it would not accept two $100 bills. The manager said another employee notified him of the possible counterfeit money. The manager said that he was able to confirm that the $100 bills were in fact counterfeit.

 

Man’s vehicle allegedly damaged

A man’s car was allegedly damaged at the 100 block of Willow Creek Road between 4 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The man told police that when he returned home from work at 4 a.m. everything on the car appeared to be in normal condition, but when he woke up at 4:30 p.m, there had been damage estimated at approximately $499, done to his black 1994 Z28 Chevrolet driver-side door frame.

The man said the door looked as if someone had tried to pry it open. The door panel was separated from the frame and the window would no longer roll to the top of the car.

 

Man arrested for DUI

A man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Thursday around 5:15 p.m.

The man, 59,  told police that he was on the shoulder of Hamilton Road facing the northbound lane of traffic and that he needed to make a U-turn, in the process he pulled from the shoulder, but struck another vehicle as it passed.

The man’s car sustained moderate damage to the front bumper and passenger side wheel well. The other vehicle’s driver said that she was traveling south on Hamilton Road and the man pulled into her lane of traffic and she was not able to respond fast enough to get out of the way.

The woman’s car sustained moderate damage to the front drivers side quarter panel.

Upon contact with the man, police observed his face and eyes and believed that he may be impaired. The whites of his eyes were red and bloodshot while his pupils appeared constricted.

According to police, the man’s appearance seemed unkempt. His shirt was on inside-out with the tag exposed and he was sweating profusely. His muscle tone was flaccid and seemed to have an elevated pulse rate.

Police asked the man if he was alright, he said that he was.

The police then asked for him to explain what had happened, they began to hear that his speech was slow and lethargic.

The man described needing to make a U-turn, but the location in which he started the turn from, there were no view obstructions that would have prevented him from seeing the other vehicle coming from several hundred feet.

Police asked quickly if he had consumed any alcohol or prescription drugs and he stated that he didn’t drink, but he had taken some medications that day. Police asked what types and he stated neurontin, hydrocodone and ritalin. Police asked if he would take some safety exercises to ensure that he was a safe driver and he said that he would.

Police asked when the last time Matthews had taken his medications and he stated that it had been about two hours.
