LAGRANGE – It’s game week.

With the preseason games in the books, Callaway, LaGrange and Troup will all jump into the regular season this week, as will Lafayette Christian.

First up will be the Troup Tigers, who will host Hardaway on Thursday at 7 p.m.

On Friday, it will be Callaway and LaGrange kicking things off at Callaway Stadium, and Lafayette Christian opens its season at Solid Rock Christian Academy in Fayetteville.

Callaway, LaGrange and Troup all tuned up for the season with preseason games.

LaGrange was at Heard County on Aug. 4, and it fought back from a 20-0 deficit to make a game of it before losing 26-14.

Last week, it was Callaway getting a pair of second-half touchdowns to beat Northside-Columbus 20-14 in Hogansville, while Troup’s offense was unstoppable in a 48-35 win over Harris County.

A year ago, Callaway opened with a 37-6 victory over LaGrange on the way to a 13-1 season that ended with a loss to Benedictine in the Class AA semifinals.

LaGrange struggled to a 2-8 record and missed the playoffs.

Troup fell to Hardaway 21-14 in its season opener last year, and it won eight straight games after that before losing to Cartersville in the regular-season finale.

Troup finished 8-3 and fell to West Hall in the opening round of the Class AAAA playoffs.

Lafayette Christian opened with an 18-6 home loss to Solid Rock last season, and it went on to reach the semifinals of the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association eight-man state playoffs.
