Daniel Wayne Binion, 32, is currently wanted by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office for failing to return to work release.

Sgt. Stewart Smith said that Binion previously had several traffic charges from the sheriff’s office.

“We’ve had several run-ins with him in the past, and we’re pretty confident we’ll catch him again at some point,” Smith said.

Binion was last seen around 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to the sherriff office’s Facebook post.

Binion was on work release and did not report back, Smith said.

“He had signed out for work release and then did not report back to that,” he said.

Binion was charged with a misdemeanor for escape, Smith said.

The are currently around 30 people in the county’s work release program, Smith said.

“That’s something that [individuals are] sentenced to and there’s certain qualifications for that. It’s a program that’s offered to certain candidates,” he said. “It’s a program the county has as an alternative to prison.”

Smith said people leaving their work release is uncommon and that by doing so, they are taken out of the program.

“It’s not something that happens often, but it has happened in the past years,” he said. “They’re pulled out of the work release program and charged with a misdemeanor for escape.”

Binion is 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Smith said.
