In their final tune-up for the start of region play, the Callaway Lady Cavaliers split a pair of softball games on Saturday.

Callaway lost to Bowdon 14-5 and beat Baconton-Charter 9-7.

Both games were played at Bowdon High.

Callaway (7-6) will host Lamar County on Tuesday in its Region 5-AA opener.

“They’ve done well,” said Callaway head coach Ashley Summerlin said. “We’re 13 games into the year, and we’re 7-6. I like where our team’s headed, the way we’ve competed.”

In the win over Baconton-Charter, Oeisha Jenkins was the winning pitcher, and she also had a double and two RBIs.

Jasmine Dukes hit a home run and finished with two hits, and Kourtney Grier had two hits and three RBIs.

Catcher Lydia Bartlett threw out two base runners.

“It was a good offensive effort in that first game,” Summerlin said.

In the second game, Jenkins did a lot of the offensive damage with two hits and four RBIs, and she had a three-run home run.
