Members of the Georgia ICAC, or the Internet Crimes Against Children, Task Force from the LaGrange Police Department and Troup County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to educate all of the eighth grade students in the Troup County School System.

On September 6, law enforcement will begin presentation to students on basic internet safety, online behavior, and cyber bullying.

This will be an ongoing initiative between the LaGrange Police Department, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, and the Troup County School System to take a proactive approach to educating and informing students on the dangers of improper online behavior.

LaGrange Police Detective Jason Duncan says our local law enforcement is taking a proactive approach to help students and parents.

“Without knowing exactly what your children are doing, you aren’t able to warn them of specific dangers that are online,” he said.

“We’re going to talk to them about basic internet safety and specifically teach them what to look out for like scams, online bullying, and real dangers that an happen online.”

If you are a parent and want to learn more about how to protect your child online, LPD officers are planning to host upcoming internet safety presentations.
